If you are like most Americans, you have a nice home, two cars, and a closet full of shoes. However, there are children who begin their day with barely enough to wear, no clean water, and NO SHOES. For lack of adequate footwear, thousands of children in Uganda suffer from a crippling foot parasite called jiggers.

Now you have a chance to save a life by joining one of our two Compassion Week "Sole Hope" shoe cutting events, where we will recycle old blue jeans and plastic jugs into the materials needed to construct simple shoes. The shoe uppers that we produce will be shipped to Africa where they will be sewn and attached to outer soles made from recycled tires. Local tailors and shoemakers create the finished shoes which are distributed through medical clinics. Learn more here

Prepare homeless kits with basic necessities to be used by Project WeHOPE. We will meet at Los Altos UMC in the Courtyard between the Creekside Building and the Church Office.

The mission of Project WeHOPE is to help the unhoused, homeless and those at-risk in rebuilding their lives through a Supportive Housing Program customized to the needs of each client. Project WeHOPE is an acronym for We Help Other People Excel. Through our devotion to helping others, our long-term goal is to help improve the health of East Palo Alto by helping others overcome the critical issues facing homelessness and poverty in our cities.
